Removing the server IP from a DirectAdmin reseller allocation

control-panels, resellers

Remove the main server IP from a reseller allocation when future accounts should use a different approved address. This is an administrator allocation change, not a request to remove the server address from its operating-system network interface.

Prepare for the change

Confirm the reseller username, replacement IP and existing account assignments. The replacement address must already belong to the server and be allocated correctly. Record the current IP management state and arrange a separate migration if existing websites must move.

01 Remove the server IP from a DirectAdmin reseller allocation

  1. Sign in at the DirectAdmin administrator level and open IP Management. Select or filter the intended reseller where the interface provides that selector.
  2. Check the main server IP and the alternative IP available to this reseller. Ensure the alternative has the correct shared or owned status for the intended account workflow.
  3. For the server IP, use the supported Free from Reseller action with the intended reseller selected in the dropdown. Confirm the address and reseller before proceeding. Do not confuse this with removing a global shared IP, which can remove that IP from every reseller allocation when its usage permits removal.
  4. Return to the reseller level and review the available IP choices for new account creation. Confirm the approved alternative remains selectable.
  5. Review existing customer accounts separately. Removing an address from a reseller allocation is not a complete account-IP migration and must not be treated as a DNS or network reconfiguration.

How do I verify the reseller IP allocation?

Confirm the reseller can create an authorized test account on the intended address and that existing websites still use their expected addresses. Check DNS and TLS only if you separately migrated an account.

If the change does not work

If removal is blocked because an address is in use or its status is unsuitable, resolve the allocation through the supported interface or ask support. Do not begin by editing ip.list manually or deleting the server address from a network interface; those changes can leave panel metadata or connectivity inconsistent.
