Adding another website domain in Plesk

plesk, domains-dns

Adding a domain to Plesk creates the hosting configuration for that website. Domain registration and public DNS are separate tasks. A domain can appear in the panel while visitors still reach a different server until its authoritative DNS is configured.

Check access and requirements

Confirm that the subscription allows another domain and that you control its registration and DNS. Decide whether it needs an independent website, a redirect or an alias of an existing site. Keep existing email routing in mind before changing DNS.

01 Add another website domain in Plesk

  1. Open Websites & Domains and select Add Domain.
  2. Choose the appropriate creation option, such as a blank website, when offered. Enter the registered domain without a URL path.
  3. Select website hosting for an independent site and review the document root. Avoid unintentionally reusing another live website directory.
  4. Complete the available hosting and application settings, then create the domain. Record the assigned address and document root.
  5. At the authoritative DNS provider, configure only the required website records for this server. Preserve unrelated mail and verification records. Upload the site, configure its database if needed, and issue a valid TLS certificate when domain validation is possible.

How do I test the additional website domain?

Check the new domain in Plesk and confirm public DNS resolves to the intended destination. Test the website over HTTPS and verify both the preferred hostname and any intended www redirect. Confirm existing sites in the subscription still work.

Resolve setup problems

For a domain-already-exists error, inspect other subscriptions and aliases before retrying. For a default page, compare DNS, document root and the deployed entry file. Do not remove a working domain from another account merely to clear a name conflict; resolve ownership and migration first.
